The Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees paid a special visit to Summerhill Academy to see first-hand the excellent teaching and learning that is taking place there.
The Mayor spent an hour and a half in total at the Academy and was first given a tour by Year 6 pupils, who answered all the Mayor’s questions as they visited every classroom.
Next, the Mayor hosted a question and answer session. He talked to pupils, who had prepared questions related to matters which affect them as citizens of Bristol. These included the environment, race equality and the role of the Mayor.
Before departing, Marvin spent time chatting to parents/carers and members of St George Breathing Better group, in the school playground on various subjects including air quality.
Marvin Rees, Bristol Mayor said, “Summerhill Academy thanks for having me today! I really enjoyed talking with students about St George Park, clean air and reducing plastic use.”
